More Bursaries Announced at Saltire Celebrates!

Four more bursary winners were announced at The Saltire Celebrates event at Oran Mor in Glasgow on St Andrews day.   The event, which capped off the society’s 80th anniversary celebrations, also saw the culmination of the Inspiring Scotland programme which has distributed over £50,000 in collaboration with some of Scotland’s best cultural bodies.

The recipients of the bursaries on the night included dance artist Saffy Setohy for her piece Hidden Architectures, and Aby Watson for her dance based project One Way or another which looks at dance, disability and dyspraxia. Traditional musicians were also represented with international travel bursaries going to Ciaran Ryan and Brìghde Chaimbeul. There was also saw a special award for long term member and former convener of the Helensburgh Branch Molly MacAuslan.

The awards were accompanied by poetry from Christine de Luca, an enchanting performance on the pipes by Brìghde and music from Ross Wilson of Blue Rose Code and the ever wonderful Karine Polwart.  Music gave way to dancing as the night was rounded off with a ceilidh hosted by Cherry Grove.
