Janice Kirkpatrick

Founder of Graven Images

Janice Kirkpatrick is an experienced graphic designer and manager. 

She graduated from Glasgow School of Art in 1984 winning the Newberry Medal. In 1986 she co-founded the design consultancy, Graven Images, with her architect partner Ross Hunter. The company employs over 30 designers working on leisure, corporate and public sector projects in the UK and abroad.

Janice is a member of D&AD, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and a Governor and Visiting Professor of Glasgow School of Art. She was Conran Foundation Archive Collector and a Trustee of NESTA, where she was Chairman of the £20 million Investment & Innovation seed fund. She has also been a member of Creative Industries Advisory Committees for governments in Westminster and Scotland. Until late 2007 she was Chairman of The Lighthouse - Scotland's Centre for Architecture, Design and the City.

Janice is also a broadcaster, curator, writer and lecturer. She has curated many exhibitions, is a frequent contributor to many publications and she wrote and presented the six-part series ‘Designing Our Lives’ for BBC2.
