Donalda MacKinnon

Head of Programmes and Services, BBC Scotland

As Head of Programmes and Services for BBC Scotland, Donalda MacKinnon is responsible for all BBC Scotland editorial output on radio, television and online including the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra.  This involves being responsible for programmes and content made for BBC UK network television, radio and online services as well as BBC Scotland services.  She sets editorial priorities and strategies for Scotland in line with wider BBC strategy and provides leadership to a team of senior managers in BBC Scotland.  She also deputises for the Director of BBC Scotland as and when required. 

A graduate of the University of Edinburgh, she completed a post-graduate diploma and began her career as a teacher before joining the BBC as a researcher/assistant producer.   She was a producer/director in television working on current affairs, documentaries, entertainment and children’s programmes and spent a period of time working as a radio producer prior to taking on senior management positions.  She is a Children in Need Trustee, a Governor of St Aloysius College, a member of the Royal Television Society Scotland Committee and a member of BAFTA.
