Why become an affiliate member of the Saltire Society?
The Saltire Society has long been an organisation that works in common purpose with others. The principle of partnership founded in common cause is increasingly important in a complex and changing world. So we are keen to work with our peers and our affiliate membership not only offers the services outlined below; it is in itself a commitment to working together for the greater good.

What can we offer our affiliate members?
The opportunity to voice ideas or issues through the Society’s role as advocate and commentator -- as an independent non-political voice the Society can be outspoken if necessary. Through debates, lectures and pamphlets we have a long tradition as a valued commentator. The Saltire Society can act as an independent, respected advocate that offers a platform for matters that are important to your work.
The opportunity to add value to areas of common interest -- in particular profiling the work and contact details of our affiliates on our web site (being re-designed at present), social media and amongst our membership.
The possibility of cross marketing -- if you too are a membership organisation we can explore discounted membership.
The opportunity to collaborate as partners -- we are keen in all of our work to seek out partners with a view to reducing cost and increasing impact and profile.
Invitations to awards and events -- ranging from the Saltire Book of the Year Award to the Andrew Fletcher of Saltoun Lecture in the Scottish Parliament. We are considering the idea also of an ‘affiliates’ event which could be an interesting occasion for networking and discussion.
Meeting space -- our Headquarters in Edinburgh’s Old Town has a main meeting room that can accommodate up to 40 people lecture style and we have a small Reading Room/Library that is suitable for small meetings and private discussion. It is also be available for individuals to work or relax, surrounded by our literary award winners and Saltire publications! Affiliate members will have some free access to those facilities on sufficient notice of their requirements, and the other demands on our space.
The fees for affiliate membership fees are:
£75.00 per year for organisations with a turnover of less than £250k
£150.00 for organisations with a turnover of more than £250k per year.
