Annie George
Annie George is a writer, director, producer, performer and award-winning filmmaker.  She was founding Artistic Director and writer with Wave Theatre in Edinburgh.  Annie’s plays include Nighthawks, Heulwen (White Sun), Noor, The Dark Prince, Coast, Wave and Incendiary (Brick Lane), and have been read or performed at Traverse Theatre Edinburgh, Citizens Theatre Glasgow, The Arches, Contact Theatre Manchester, Oval House Theatre London, the Scottish Parliament, Leith Festival and the Edinburgh Fringe.

Shortlistees

Chin Li was born in Hong Kong, but has lived in Scotland for many years. Trained as a professional psychologist, he has an abiding interest in literature, and is developing a writing practice that encompasses poetry, prose fiction and experimental writing. His works are published in the Glasgow Review of Books and through the Gnommero writing project.

Jameela Muneer originally trained as a lawyer and worked as a teacher for twenty years. Now a full-time writer, she has performed at open mic events at StAnza and at local Mushairas in Edinburgh and Glasgow, and teaches creative workshops in schools. She is currently working on Rishtay, voices of Asian women in Scotland interconnected through a series of poems.

Nathanial Williams is a journalist with CommonSpace media and a poetry editor of Bella Caledonia. He has performed at North Berwick Book Festival and was shortlisted for London Poet Laureate for the London Legacy Development Corporation's Spoke programme in 2013. He is currently working on a poetry collection which will lead to an anthology of work of writers from ethnic minority backgrounds and newly settled refugees.
