This is a novel that combines two focuses of interest in the form of an old woman’s final failing and loss of independence and a young soldier’s bitter experience of the war in Afghanistan, written by Scottish novelist and non-fiction author Andrew O’Hagan. O’Hagan famously ghost wrote the 2011 unauthorised autobiography of Julian Assange and won the Glenfiddich Spirit of Scotland award for writing in 2010.
